Race to 100 Catches - OPTIONAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION ENRICHMENT

Hello everyone - its time to race!

Race to 100 catches involves 10 household items that are safe to catch (list provided if you want to use what we did). You will need to set up a "net" that you can toss the items over. We used two chairs and a broom. Please see the attachment with pictures and a video of what we used to toss and how we set up our "net" with household items. If you don't have a broom & chairs you can just use a towel or blanket on the ground to toss over. Just as long as there is a barrier between you and your partner. You may also complete this assignment by yourself by self-tossing and catching the items. The race is to see how fast you can catch all 10 items, 10 times each, to make 100 catches total. Feel free to send a video/picture or tell us about the items you picked and how long it took you to complete the race!

Have fun and check out Mrs. Beane completing the assignment. The video is in the attachment!

Due:

May 22nd - Fun Day Friday! OPTIONAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION ENRICHMENT

Please see the four activities you can choose from on the attached document with the assignment. You can pick one or do them all!

Due:

Tuesday May 26th Tic Tac Toe

Hello everyone! Please see attachment for the example Tic Tac Toe board and blank Tic Tac Toe board. Please fill out the exit-ticket by Friday May 29th @ 3:30 PM.

Instructions: In Tic Tac Toe, one player is the X and one player is the O. The goal is to get three of the same letters in a row in any direction. Each player alternates going. See if you can find a strategy that helps you win the game. Each square that you put an X or an O in you must complete the exercise before the other person goes. Each player will have several exercises to complete each round!

Play 10 games of Tic-Tac-Toe using the board that we give you as the example or come up with your own tic-tac-toe board with the blank one attached! You can come up with a different board each round consisting of different exercises or you can use the same board each round as long as you complete 10 rounds!

Enjoy and have fun! Make sure to do the warm up before and cool down after!

Due:

Fun Day Friday! May 29th

* Walk, run or bike for 20 minutes - Feel and write down your resting heart rate. Check your active heart rate and write it down.
* Frisbee golf - create a course with five holes or more. With a family member, start at hole one and count how many tosses of a frisbee or similar object it takes to hit your first target. Leave the target of hole one and count the tosses to hit the target of hole two. Continue doing this until you complete at least 5 holes, then do the course a second time. Record how many tosses it took to complete your course TWICE. Good luck!
* Hit the trail - Put up at least five of your favorite exercise post-its around your home and do the exercises each time you come to that location. How many reps of your favorite post-it did you do in one day?
* Towel exercises - Watch the video below and do the towel exercises for 20 minutes. What was your resting heart rate when you started and your active heart rate when you finished.

We miss you a bunch and look forward to seeing you soon!!! We through in some assignments that were our favorite. See attached links if you want to give those another try. Enjoy!

4/27 Physical Education - Deck of Cards Activity

Monday April 27th, 2020 - Deck of Cards

Hello Everyone!

Please see the attached document for instruction. This "deck of cards" activity would be fun to include a family member to participate with you. You can choose your own exercises or use the ones that we have recommended for you. This is all about being active and challenging yourself, so if the exercises are easy you can change them to harder more challenging exercises that you know. For example, instead of crunches you could do a plank or instead of air squats you could do alternating lunges.

Please feel free to email us a picture or video of you completing the assignment. Have fun!

Assignment

Monday April 20th - Hit The Trail Activity!

Time to "hit the trail" and get creative!

Attached are pictures of exercises you can put up around the house. Each time you go to a certain place in your house like the couch or your desk, tape a picture of an exercise to the item and when you go to sit on the couch or your desk chair, you must complete the exercise first.

Another example would be the fridge, before you open the fridge you must complete the exercise and then open the fridge. We have ten different pictures attached of exercises you can post to ten different areas in your house. You can choose your own places you put the pictures or you can follow along our "trail" that we have created in the attachment.

At any time your parents can say "hit the trail" and you must complete all the exercises throughout your house! Have fun and enjoy! We miss you SO much!

Friday April 24th - Fun Day Friday!

Choose ONE of the five activities listed below.

* Toss a stuffed animal or ball in the air over your head 20 times. Then play hot potato with your family. Pass or toss the object randomly to the group while someone plays music. If you have the object in your hands when the music stops, do 10 rocket blasters and you control the music for the next game.
* Do push ups (wall, hands on edge of chair/couch or on the floor) while reciting the Hail Mary prayer
* Play "follow the leader". Take turns being the leader and directing a family member(s) to match your every move. Movement ideas include skip, hop, crawl, gallop, run, walk, jump or whatever.
* Give stretching a try. Just like in our warm-up or cool down, see if you can think of a stretching routine to do to help you warm-up for an activity or cooling down after a hard workout.
* Make an obstacle course outside or inside your house. Challenge each family member to see who can complete the course the fastest.
