Have an amazing summer, and I am looking forward to a wonderful 8th grade year with all of you!!Summer Reading Assignment:
As the eighth grade ELA teacher, my goal is to instill a lifelong love of reading in your children and to encourage them to choose novels from different genres and different authors.
This summer, each student is required to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (ISBN-13 978-0553213454). We will begin the year with literature circles to discuss the novel, a writing assignment based on the reading, an AR test, and an Alice themed tea party/STREAM event in Knight Hall (similar to Greek Day or Medieval Day). The students are not required to read Through the Looking Glass, the second book in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, but they can read it for their First Trimester Independent Reading Project if they would like. In addition, below is a list of other books that your children may enjoy, but please know that these are not required reads, only Alice. Please let me know if you have any questions…happy reading and have a wonderful summer!
