Description
The 7th grade Social Studies course focuses on the Medieval and Early Modern Times.
Students in grade seven study the social, cultural, and technological changes that occurred in Europe, Africa, and Asia in the years A.D. 500–1789. Together we will explore history to discover how new ideas, technologies, and beliefs were spread throughout the world. Critical thinking and historical research skills are also an important part of the course. This course follows the California content standards for Social Studies.

Museum Box Holocaust Project
 
Thinking about what you have learned about the Holocaust in your various classes, choose one of the following questions and create a museum box to try to find the answer. There is no one answer to any of the questions.
 
• How did the Holocaust happen?
• Who caused the Holocaust?
• How were various groups dehumanized during the Holocaust?
• How did people survive the Holocaust?
 
Using the Musuem Box website, make a 6 sided-cube that address the following aspects of your chosen question:
 
1. Describe it (who, what, when, where, why) How would you describe the issue/topic?
2. Compare it (what it is similar to or different from)—“It’s sort of like”
3. Associate it (what it makes you think of)—How does the topic connect to other issues/subjects?

Africa Poster Due Friday
 
Poster: Focusing on geography and natural resources of the sub-Saharan region, students will design an informational travel poster. The poster may include words as well as visual images.  The materials and choice of images will be determined by the student.

Write Up: Accompanying the poster, students will type two paragraphs.  The first paragraph should describe the region and resources. The second paragraph should explain how the resources and land features are represented in the poster..

Grading: This project will be worth a total of 30 points in the project category of the class.  Students will be graded on the brainstorm  (5 points), Poster  (15 points), and write up (10 points).  Poster paper will be provided in class along with some supplies; students are encouraged to also incorporate outside supplies. Students will only have 30min in class to work on this project, the rest must be completed at home.
