5th Grade Science Lab (Period G) Assignments

Review Dissection Lab Preview for Pig Heart Dissection tomorrow.

 

Remember:

Girls:  Long hair MUST be bunned up.

No sweatshirts/jackets/watches/braceltets

This week we will be studying the density of regular solids in science lab.  Please bring the following materials:

 

-a pencil

-a ruler

-a calculator

We will be having a Valentine theme lab this week.  Students will need to wear goggles this week.  Buns are a must and no long sleeves, jackets, hoodies, sweaters or scarves.  A pencil and eraser are the only needed tools. 

Please come to lab fully prepared to earn the most points possible.

A change in lab plans for tomorrow.  A pencil is all that is needed.  Contacts may be worn tomorrow.

Complete your essay on one of the following topics:

 

1.  My favorite 5th grade science lab thus far has been...

2.  I wish we could do _________________ in 5th grade science lab.

 

Your TYPED essay is due 1/22/15. 

Essays need to be between 200-300 words.

Illustrations are optional.

Please be sure to use proper grammar and check spelling.

 

The best essays from each class will be on display in the Science Lab.

Attached is the e-copy of today's lab.

5^th Grade Science Lab 1/8/15

-This week we will perform a problem-solving lab.

 

 Please bring the following:

-a pencil and eraser

 You will NOT need the following:

-Baggie hoodies/sweaters

-Extra books/pencil cases

 

*Googles will not be required so you may wear contact lenses to lab.

*Long hair should be secured into a bun prior to entering the lab.

 

Please bring the following items to lab:

 

1.  Your "Saving Sam" lab handout

2.  A ruler, scissors and a pencil

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lab for this week only requires you to bring a pencil.  Girls with long hair, please make sure your hair is secured into a bun prior to entering the lab.

Sorry I forgot to post the "Only You Can Save Sam" document before leaving for Thanksgiving.  To make up for my mistake, you may submit your report to me on Thursday, Dec. 6 when you come to lab.

Please read the attached lab preview on Descriptive Writing prior to coming to lab on Thursday, October 23, 2014. 

Please turn in a nice and neat copy of your Gummy Bear write-up to your homeroom teacher on Monday, October 20. 

Bring your Gummy Bear lab sheets to class tomorrow.  Attached is a link if you need a new copy.

Please read 5th Grade Lab Preview (attached) before Thursday's lab.  Remember girls to have your hair secured into a bun prior to entering the lab.

 

1. Please read the Lab Safety Quick Reference.

2. Please have both the student and parent read and sign the Science Lab Safety Contract.

3. Please design a poster illustrating a lab safety concept.  You may use the bullet points from the Lab Safety Quick Reference guide as inspiration. 

4. Ask your parent if they are interested in helping out in the science lab.

 

Optional:  Purchase safety glasses/goggle for next Thursday.  Safety goggles/glasses can be found at most hardware stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, OSH).

 

The Safety Contract was included in the hard copy of the syllabus that you received if you attended Back to School Night.  If you did not receive the safety contract, please print it from the link on my home page and bring it to your first science lab or submit it to your homeroom teacher.
