Welcome to the Upper School (5th-8th Grade) Learning Support Program, fondly referred to as LSP. I am Mrs.Tedda Duhey and I will be serving as the learners' support teacher. When they are in our Support classroom twice a week, I will be guiding them with healthy study skills and encouraging them in all their academic courses. In 5th Grade, I will also be implementing Lindamood-Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing program to strengthen their reading comprehension. In 6th-8th Grade, I will be introducing them to Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR-T) techniques to improve self awareness and coping skills. In addition, I will be in 5th-8th Grade's ELA classes twice a week, assisting their writing teacher with Writers' Workshop (5th) and the Jane Schaffer Writing Program (6th-8th). I will be the 5th Grade's Study Skills Enrichment Teacher as well. I'm looking forward to a year filled with learners striving to do their best, focusing on how each of them is most successful. "You never fail until you stop trying." -Albert Einstein
I graduated with my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park. I was issued my K-12 Multiple Subject Credential in 2010 from National University, and earned my Clear Credential through the Orange County Department of Education Spring 2017. This past Summer, I became certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction for Teens, an evidence-based program to enhance the quality of life for adolescents. I have had vast experience with homework clubs and tutoring in the upper grades through high school, and had the opportunity to work in our Catholic schools since 2011. I feel blessed to have found myself at The Parish School of St. Edward the Confessor's Catholic Church, doing what I love.
In addition to teaching, I have a wonderful husband of 25 years, and two grown boys who consistently reminded me it's okay to make mistakes. Faults make us who we are, and help us learn to become strong individuals, independent and self-sufficient. In my free time, I enjoy activities on the water, travel, music and spending time with our dog "Holly."
I am excited about this new year! If you find the need to contact me, please call the school at (949)496-1241 x1230 or email me at email@example.com. I believe we all must work together to mold each of our learners into someone special. Always Learning!
