Course Description

Chapter 14 Time - Extra Practice
I have attached extra practice pages for Chapter 14. Learners are not required to do these pages and do not need to hand these pages in. It is just an extra resource to use for practice if necessary.

Math Facts Addition and Subtraction

Learners should practice their math facts every day for 5 - 10 minutes. I will give math fact quizzes approximately every 2-3 weeks. The goal is to increase overall math fact fluency.  We have learned several ways to practice math facts. Please review these items with your child. It is best to use a variety of different tools to practice - this will also keep their interest level higher. I have posted several practice pages for subtraction.

Games: (These can be played as addition games or just slightly modify to do subtraction)
Dice - roll two dice and add the facts. This can be played with a partner or individually
Playing Cards -  The game is played like "War" each person flips over one card. The first person to solve the math fact keeps the cards. Whoever has the most cards in the end wins. Playing cards can also be used individually. The learner flips over two cards and adds the numbers together.
Dominoes - Place the dominoes face side down - flip over and add it to the other dominoes creating math facts.
Flash Cards - Any type of addition flash cards. These can be found at Target, The Dollar Store, etc.
iPad apps - A few apps that work well are: Sushi Monster, Pet Bingo, Flash to Pass and Timed Tests
Hand written practice: - Print one of the pages from the attached set. Set the timer for 5 minutes and let your learner complete it. See how many they are able to do in 5 minutes. Did they improve their score from the last test, which was sent home.
