Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to be Catholic to attend St. Edward?
No. The Parish School at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church welcomes families of all religious traditions. Our learner population is approximately 95% Catholic and many of our non-Catholic families end up registering for RCIA because they feel loved and welcomed to our Church.  For our Roman Catholic students, please provide your child’s Baptism certificate at the time of application. We do have Catholic and non-Catholic tuition rates.

What is the class size?
Homeroom class size is 36 students. Our overall student to teacher ratio is 24:1. Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade teachers are assisted by a full-time instructional assistant or credentialed co-teacher. All other grades are assisted by part-time instructional assistants.

Do the learners at The Parish School wear uniforms?
Yes. Learners must purchase uniforms through True Grits Uniform Company.

Do the learners at The Parish School take standardized assessments?
Yes. Our learners take the IOWA Form E assessments in grades 2-8 each fall and then the STAR math and reading assessments are administered four times annually.  The IOWA Form E is a fall-normed test. This assists our teachers in understanding their individual students and pacing their curriculum for the year. Our scores are part of the document on the www.ed.gov website.

Do you have before and after school programs?
Yes. Our Eday program is available before and after school hours. Information and applications for this program are available from the school office or by contacting Mr. Mitchell Ninomiya at 949-496-1241, extension 2879. Click here to learn more about Eday.
